X Feria Cata y Vino
We are pleased to announce that we will be pouring Flaherty at the Tenth Annual Cata y Vino tasting, to be held at the W Hotel in Santiago on Friday and Saturday. This is the first year that micro wineries are participating in the tasting, thanks to efforts by the MOVI group. The Movimiento de Vinateros Independientes de Chile (MOVI) was organized about a year ago to address the needs of small family wineries. The primary Chilean wine organization (Wines of Chile) tends to be dominated by the big wineries—which is understandable, in that a single organization can’t be all things to all people. So, much like the Family Winemakers of California, the emerging boutique wineries of Chile came together to establish an organization whose mission is to foster cooperation among small, independent winemakers and to undertake promotional activities that would otherwise be beyond the scope of our individual marketing budgets.
If you’ll be in Santiago this weekend, be sure to head over to the new W Hotel on Isidora Goyenechea (across from the Plaza Perú). The tasting will be open on Friday evening from 7:00 to 10:00 and all day Saturday from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm. This should be a very interesting event this year, since it is the first time that the majority of Chile’s boutique wineries will be participating in a public tasting. And be sure to stop by our table to say hi. We’ll be pouring our 2006 and also launching our 2007.
